Don't hit Mummy. you're hurting her, Daddy!!!!!

Today, let us all speak out against violence!
  Any form of violence stinks!

Guys that kick dogs may later on kick children...

Bully boys at school may bully their wives and  colleagues in the future.

If you are silent about being mistreated, you are giving the OK to the perpetrator to continue mistreating you.  Take the 'power' away and talk openly to who ever will listen about it.

My father would hit my mother. Usually after we, as a family had been to a country dance and were driving home.  She would accuse him of flirting with women, which he did!
She went on and on, not caring how frightened we were.  Not leaving it until he was sober and she had cooled down.   On and on until he would yell, 'bullshit' and then hit her.
I couldn't bear to look but I think it was a hard slap.  One time we had arrived home and she was still carrying on, we were crying, then he punched her in the face and knocked her down and made her mouth bleed.               I yelled at him and called him a mongrel.  We were sent to bed.

No comforting from either!   The next morning, I was made to appologise to my father by my mother for calling him a mongrel????  AND he accepted the apology as though it was well deserved.....    Now I understand.  My mother would have power for a few weeks afterwards because he was so sorry for his behaviour.
We were told not to tell the neighbours or anyone or we would get into trouble. [belted]

So...... do not cover up,    speak out in front of the perpetrator.   Stop it right now!!

Wow. I don't know how you get past that. From either parent. I'm so sorry.

Thank you Melissa. It does scar you for life and governs how you treat people. I have always hated confrontations as a result.

I was bullied as a child in school and never spoke about it until years later. Of course I now realise speaking out is the right thing. So sorry to hear of your childhood, but as you say speaking out is the key. A virtual hug to you from across the ocean....x
